Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claims -

New York State Department of Labor

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT THE UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE SYSTEM

The NYS Department of Labor is planning to upgrade the Unemployment Insurance system starting Monday, November 2^nd, 2026, at 5 PM. We expect the upgrade period to take 9 to 12 days.

If you are filing or certifying for unemployment benefits, this upgrade period will affect you.

The upgrade period will delay unemployment payments. After the upgrade period is complete, you must file or certify for benefits in the upgraded system to receive all payments due to you.

If you are claiming benefits for the week ending November 1^st, you must do so by November 2^nd, at 5 PM. If you miss this deadline, you will need to wait until the upgraded system is available to claim these benefits.

During the upgrade period, all online and phone services for unemployment insurance will be unavailable, and unemployment payments will be delayed. You will not be able to file or certify for any benefits. 

Additionally, Career Centers will only be available by virtual appointment and will not be able to assist with unemployment insurance. Make an appointment online

Career Center Closure Notice

All CSS Workforce NY Career Centers will be closed beginning Monday, November 2, 2026, at 5:00 PM, and are scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, December 1, 2026, during normal operating hours.

Career Services Appointments Available

During the closure, appointments may be scheduled for the following services:

• Individual Career Services
• Employment Search Assistance
• Resume Writing Assistance

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this system upgrade.
