Surveys of Chemung-Schuyler-Steuben Employers and Workers
The slow post-COVID recovery of 2021 has highlighted the significant difficulties that many employers are experiencing in recruiting and retaining qualified workers.  With funding from the federal CARES Act, the Southern Tier Central Regional Planning & Development Board (STC) has commissioned an online survey of employers in Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben counties.  The survey includes questions about the impact of the pandemic, hiring challenges, skills gaps, and training needs, among other topics, and it is strictly anonymous.  The compiled results will be shared by STC with the business, economic development, and workforce development communities.
By participating in the survey, business leaders and human resource managers in companies of all sizes have an opportunity to share their concerns and insights.  The information provided by the survey will be used to develop recommendations for addressing workforce and human resource challenges in the region.  Participants will be provided with early access to the results of the survey, which takes 15 to 20 minutes to complete.  Visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/STCemploy

STC is also conducting an online survey of workers employed by businesses in the three counties, as well as residents to understand their experiences and perspectives on the impact of the pandemic, workplace preferences, and the quality of life in the region.  As with the Employer Survey, individual responses will be kept in strict confidence and only compiled results will be shared.  The Worker Survey can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/STCworker.
